Ingredients

  • 2 apples, chopped
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup oats
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 2 scallions, chopped
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • ¼ tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Heat a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped apples and cinnamon.
  2. Cook while stirring until the apples soften (about 3–5 minutes).
  3. Mix the cooked apples with the oats until well combined.
  4. For steamed egg, in a heat-safe bowl, whisk together the eggs, warm water, and salt.
  5. Place the bowl in a pot. Add hot water to the pot until it reaches halfway up the bowl.
  6. Cover the pot and cook over low–medium heat for about 12 minutes, keeping the water at a gentle simmer.
  7. Sprinkle scallions on top and drizzle with soy sauce. Continue steaming for 3 more minutes.
  8. Enjoy the traditional breakfast with any kind of tea.
